Sun Valley Community School, Idaho

When I heard that my mom was pregnant with my brother Crosby, it was the craziest news I’ve ever heard. We were living in New York, and life was simple. I was a little worried that having another kid in the family would take all of the attention away from me. I had always heard stories like that about middle children. Nine months later, my parents were in the hospital and I was at home with my babysitter. My babysitter received a text from my parents saying that it was a boy and his name was Crosby. I never thought I would have a younger brother. The next day I went to the hospital to see my baby brother. His tiny face was sticking out of a white blanket with blue and yellow stripes around it. He was about the size of a forearm. He was so incredibly small. We took him to his small crib where he laid there for hours. The first few days after he came home, I would not leave his side. I loved him right away.

Six months later, we moved to a house in Parker Gulch in Sun Valley, Idaho. The first couple of months in Idaho with Crosby were kind of annoying because Crosby was colicky. Crosby had to sleep in a small closet, and he would stay up some nights crying for hours, and there was nothing you could do about it. We did not have much to do at the house, so me and my older brother built paper airplanes and lots of Legos. Crosby loved watching “Thomas the Train” on my mom’s iPad. He loved it so much that later we got him a train set with Thomas the Train. When we finally moved into a bigger house, my older brother and I had to move Crosby’s train set, which was annoying.

In the nine months that we lived in our Parker Gulch house, I went to school and I played video games. Crosby had more to do than just Thomas the Train. He was becoming slowly more mature. He went from eating milk to eating yogurt. He would go to the playground a ton with my parents. But then even though we were supposed to live in that house for two years, we had to move after just nine months, which was really annoying, because we had to move all of our and Crosby’s stuff again to Chocolate Gulch.

After these two years of looking for houses, we found the perfect house in the Valley Club. This time Crosby was easy to move with because he was mature and did not have all these trains. Instead, he just loved Batman and had a few capes. This is the house we now live in. Even though I thought that Crosby would change my life in a negative way, it turned out he changed my life in the best way possible. I could not ask for a better brother. If I am bored, Crosby comes into the room and makes everything so much more fun. For example, we were watching the Oscars the other night and Crosby came into the room, turned on music from YouTube, and just started dancing. Having Crosby as a little brother is crazy in a great way.
